In Real Life: Week 25

Hello friends! It’s been a great week, so let’s dive on in!

How adorable is this little cafe’s seating area?

I’d be happy to eat 2 tacos for lunch every day.

Take a long walk with me.

Stovetop popcorn + chocolate chips + peanut butter chips + butter + salt = best munchie food ever.

Realized after the tri-tip was all ready to go on that our grill was out of propane. So I seared it on the stove and finished it in the oven instead. It was still pretty damn tasty, if I may say so myself.

Is it just me, or is this lily saying, “come hither”?

When Oliver demands snuggles, he doesn’t care if you’re in the middle of reading a book with Jack on your lap. He’s comin’ up.

Gettin’ messy during nap time.

So much possibility.

It’s summer break (ha!) and I’ll eat pizza rolls like a kid if I want to.

Jack told me it was nap time by dragging his blankie out from his crib, grabbing the nearest bottle, and lying down on the floor in front of me. Hint taken, kid.

TGIF, amiright?

Artemis says good morning.

My mini roses are in full bloom and they are so pretty.

I just love how colorful these flowers are. Even as they reach the end of their bloom they are still gorgeous.

We could all exude such joy.

Busted! But look how happy he is… I couldn’t stay mad at this face.

Currently crushing on my new summer sandals!

Our first experience with Play-Doh was a success. He only tried to eat it once.

The glamorous contents of my purse before I emptied and organized it. #momlife

The big highlight of our week – and the reason for the late post – was going to a Giants game!

I’ve come to appreciate the eclectic chaos that is San Francisco. Like this mural – I have no idea what’s going on here, but I dig it.

Many attempts were made to get a good photo with Jack and I. I think the combined efforts resulted in success.

I can’t tell you how much I love this photo.

“Where are we going, and why did I have to wake up for it?”

AT&T Park is the best. Not a bad seat in the house, and a gorgeous view of the bay if you need a break. (Side note: I need a friend with a boat.)

It was such a good game. Went into extra innings, and ended with my boy Hunter Pence hitting a walk-off RBI to end the game!

He was such a good sport. Barely even fussed when he was well past nap time.

Does tomorrow have to be Monday? Are you sure we can’t have just one more day in the weekend? Oh well… guess we’d better make the most of it!

Have a great week, my loves!

Happy Father’s Day to all you awesome dads out there!

Here’s a peek at our week 24:

My crazy plant lady adventures continue with these beautiful mini roses.

And these lovelies, whose name I’m not sure of. Black-eyed Susans? Coneflowers? Doesn’t matter… they’re pretty and they make me smile. 🙂

Someone enjoyed his pudding.

A decent gimmick.

I think I have my homemade mojito recipe down. The addition of lime-flavored sparkling water was just the finisher I needed.

More epic food adventures with Pato! Pineapple fried rice in a pineapple? Yes, please!

I could eat these summer rolls every day.

Crying tiger beef! with a side of Pato finger, because it wouldn’t be dinner with Pato without at least one photo this way.

I spent the last half of the week on stay-cation!

Jack and I kicked it off with a trip to the beach!

Because I understand that Capitola gets crazy crowded, even during the middle of the week, we got there mid-morning to snag a good spot.

Our little pop-up shade was super easy to set up!

It made for a great place to nap in the afternoon for the peanut.

He actually took a nice long nap, which made for some very nice mama time with my rose spritzer and my book.

We spent a lot of time digging in the sand and playing with our bucket full of water, which was apparently much less scary than the ocean for Mr. Jack.

We also chased our beach ball around quite a bit, and Jack kept trying to play catch with the bigger kids nearby.

We finished the day off with some ice cream, of course! Except that this little stinker stole my cone from me and then didn’t want to share! I don’t blame you, buddy… that peanut butter cup ice cream was pretty dang tasty.

This cat has no chill.

I am so grateful for all the good time I’ve had with my little guy this week. He melts my heart every day.

I mean, c’mon… how could you not love this face?

Big brother is spending most of the summer with his mom this year, but he’s back for the weekend! And he’s a little particular about his privacy these days, which I’m doing my best to respect.

Side note: look at those feet! He and I almost wear the same size shoe now, can you believe it?

Happy Pride to all those who celebrate!

It’s back to the grind for me tomorrow, which means back to productivity mode today.

Have a great Father’s Day! See you next week!

Happy Sunday, friends! Welcome to another week!

Last Sunday Jack and I tried to go to the pool, but they were closed.

CLOSED. On a hot Sunday afternoon in June.

(Apparently summer hours don’t start until this weekend.)

WTF? I almost cried.

So we buried our sorrows in ice cream instead.

Ain’t nothing a Love It size of Chocolate Devotion can’t fix.

Pride Weekend also made for some epic opportunities for observation. (And made me feel less shy about walking around downtown in my swim bottoms and rash guard top.)

This little trio was killing it. Jack was mesmerized.

Then we came home to epic tuna melts by Robbie. He is the master.

Work wins the award for best use of this meme yet.

I feel ya, Moose.

Is it bad that my first thought was of Jurassic Park?

A pursuit I’d happily join.

Goodnight, California.

The June birthday board I put together makes me smile.

Best. Photobomb. Ever.

My loves.

Friday evening burger bar life.

I couldn’t help but sneak a photo of these two lovebirds with their milkshake. It felt very 1950’s to me.

Dessert time!

“What do you mean, ‘the cookies are all gone’?”

A “little” fry at Five Guys.

These kitties know what weekends are for.

We are officially on summer break, and we have a giant SIXTH GRADER in the house. He’s gonna be driving my car before we know it.

I’ve got a little stay-cation planned for this week, and I am very excited! What’s on your agenda?

Have a great week!

Happy Sunday, all! Come in for a look at our week 22!

Robbie was away all last weekend, so Monday we snuck out for a little nap time day date, just the two of us.

Sometimes the simplest meals are the best.

We’ve spent lots of time outside this week. It’s just been so nice!

Memorial Day eats, step one.

Step two.

Step three (my favorite part).

In love with my new badge holder. Baby Groot!!!

What year is it?

My happy place.

I’ve been experimenting with making my own mojitos this week. I found that the addition of a bit of lime-flavored sparkling water is a big win.

Thank you, Chrystal, for giving us this awesome picture! It’s quite perfect for the boys’ bathroom.

James’ entire 5th grade class put on a play about the 13 colonies this week!

He was Lief Erickson… I’m not entirely sure how he fits into the story of the 13 colonies, to be honest, but he was so dang cute that I really didn’t care.

Fish taco Friday at the work cafeteria was a big win.

Man, I love going to Giants games.

I’m sorry, but my immature brain thinks this name just sounds wrong, lol.

Not a bad hotel room view.

Okay, now I totally understand the chicken and waffles hype. I’d eat this every day.

I took another photography class this week! Once again, I learned so much good information.

We learned about using reflectors to fill in shadows in bright sun…

…and about using a short depth of field and pre-focusing for macro shots…

…and even some fun tricks, like using a slow shutter speed and zooming the lens while you shoot.

All in all, it was a great week! I look forward to challenging myself with my DSLR more often this summer. So many things to learn!

Have a great week 23!
